About Us


Vet4Farm (originally known as “Independent Vets”) was set up by vet Mike Sheppard in 2007. Starting from a small client base the practice now services a large number of dairy, sheep & beef and lifestyle farms in the wider Southland region with the main office at 13 Bond St, Invercargill (next door to RD1) and a branch office in Centre Bush (in the old general store).

Mike Sheppard

Mike studied business and resource management at Lincoln University before travelling to Massey University to study veterinary science.  He began practicing in Southland in 2002, working in mixed animal practice.  He spent 2005 working for Pfizer Animal Health as a pharmaceutical representative in Otago and Southland before returning to large animal practice in 2006.  In 2007 Mike started Vet4Farm.  Mike is the managing director of Vet4Farm and is interested in farm consultancy that improves returns to the farmer.

Raewyn King

Raewyn is a born and bred Southlander. She comes from a farming background of sheep and beef cattle. She has travelled through America and Canada but always returned back to Southland. She has a strong interest in sport especially in the area of netball. She has lots of experience of office management, is completing her Rural Animal Technicians Certificate, and is our Operations Manager.





Kathleen Flynn

Kathleen grew up in Southland, relief milking as a part-time job through her last years of high school and while studying at SIT where she completed her National Certificate in Veterinary Nursing.  Kathleen joined Vet4Farm as a Veterinary Technician in October 2010, previously she worked on a dairy farm with her partner and continues to relief milk at the farm where he works and they both live.  Kathleen loves to get away to the family crib in the Catlins to do some fishing and to relax.  She also enjoys arts and crafts.







Shrikar Mane

Shrikar has a Veterinary degree from India and Masters degree in animal production from the Netherlands.  Shrikar is looking forward to practicing in New Zealand by completing the NZ Veterinary registration examinations.  He moved to NZ in 2008 and worked on dairy farms for 2 years before joining Vet4Farm in July 2010 as a veterinary technician.  Before travelling to NZ he spent 10 years practicing in India as a veterinarian for large animals.  He enjoys playing basketball, table tennis and travelling.
